Intuitive user interface
Hippo CMS has a familiar graphical user interface that allows users to browse through and search for their documents and assets the way they are used to.
Customizable document editor
Hippo CMS contains a graphical form based XML document editor, which is fully customizable. Hippo CMS integrators can design their own document templates for the editor.
Workflow
Hippo CMS features an easy to use document workflow. Authors can request publication, unpublication or deletion of their documents. Editors have a list of pending requests in their Todo screen, for fast approval of requests.
Search engine
Hippo CMS allows users to search for their documents based on any parameter you can think of, so no time is lost trying to find them.
Locking
Hippo CMS locks documents while they are being edited, so other users cannot open it.
Version management
Hippo CMS can save a version of a document in the history each time it is published or unpublished. Users can also save draft versions whenever they like. The content of a document can be replaced by that of any previous version.
User management
Hippo CMS allows easy user management. Users can be grouped and given roles like "author" or "editor".
Non-western language support
Hippo CMS supports non-western character sets out of the box.
Multi site publishing
Hippo CMS can publish content to any number of web sites, intranet sites or other front end applications. Content can be shared by different sites.
Free choice of technology
The component based architecture of Hippo CMS and its use of open standards like XML and WebDAV allows integrators to build front ends (like web sites, intranet sites or any other application) using their preferred technology (Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby on Rails, etc.). Hippo provides open source toolkits for building front ends using Apache Cocoon and Java.
